SEEDS OF LIFE PARTNERSHIP:

The Agribusiness Hub

Conteh & Brown Group has partnered with Impact Sierra Leone to cooperate on a project that addresses food security, potable water access, waste management, and community enterprise.

Food Security | Permaculture

Permaculture is the agricultural practice the project will engage in order to construct the The Agribusiness Hub and its supportive infrastructure. Permaculture is a sustainable design philosophy that integrates natural ecosystems and human activities to create self-sufficient and regenerative agricultural systems. It emphasizes principles like diversity, resilience, and sustainability to mimic natural processes and create productive landscapes that harmoniously support both people and the environment.

Potable Water | Rainwater

The Agribusiness Hub is a self-sufficient & sustaining structure that will employ many sustainable practices. The Hub will be supplied with potable water using rainwater harvesting. Rainwater harvesting is the process of collecting and storing rainwater from rooftops, land surfaces, or other catchment areas for future use, such as irrigation, drinking water, or household purposes. This method conserves water resources and reduces dependency on traditional water supplies by capturing natural rainfall.

Waste Management | Sanitation

Waste management is a central part of The Agribusiness Hub for the village of Foindu, Sierra Leone. Waste management infrastructure will be organized around sanitation and how to bring systematic sanitation practices to Foindu. Effective waste management infrastructure can enhance the sanitation of a small village of 500 people by systematically collecting, treating, and disposing of waste, thereby preventing contamination of water sources and reducing health risks associated with unmanaged waste.

Agribusiness | Women In Business

Agribusiness is the model of micro-industry that The Agribusiness Hub will use to operate. Agribusiness refers to the broad industry encompassing the production, processing, and distribution of agricultural products and services, integrating the entire supply chain from farm inputs like seeds and fertilizers to the marketing and sale of food products. The agribusiness model targets the women of Foindu in building an agriculture campus and using the output for products and services.
